Classic shungite may stain when threaded; black-gray marks may appear, particularly from the holes in the beads. This is a natural characteristic and a sign of genuine shungite. However, staining is almost non-existent after completion and wear.

Natural inclusions:

Shungite may contain natural elements such as pyrite and quartzite. These often appear as golden or light gray dots or lines, which can occasionally resemble scratches. Such inclusions are a natural part of the stone and a sign of its authenticity.

Classic shungite of the highest quality category, Category 2 for shungite, is mined at the Zazhoginskij mine in Karelia, Russia. We use only this rock to create the beads described here and all other classic shungite objects.

We verify the origin of the stones through regular visits to the mining site and the workshops where the stones are processed. We continuously monitor the quality based on electrical conductivity, weight, hardness, and optical characteristics.
