Stains on Shungite Surface

Stains appear on my shungite stones. What should I do?

Shungite is a relatively soft mineral in nature. Stains are a completely natural property of classical (ordinary) shungite. This is very evident on unpolished surfaces, and it takes a relatively long time to remove the stains. In the case of polished surfaces, this property is much less noticeable but still exists.

You can rinse the stones under running water and, for example, clean them with a plastic brush. This means that polished surfaces are less prone to staining; however, this cannot be completely avoided.

Please note that during use when choosing products and do not touch unpolished stones such as pyramids or spheres. If you expect that the stones will be touched more often, for example when used in a nursery or as a protective stone that you can take with you, we recommend using stones with a polished surface.

Why do stains appear on my jewellery with shungite beads?

In jewellery with beads, the surface of the beads is polished, but the holes are not. As a result, when you start wearing such jewellery, there is a strong possibility of staining, which, unfortunately, cannot be avoided. However, stains are easily removed with soap and water. This phenomenon will decrease significantly over time.

Note that beaded jewellery should ideally not come into contact with water, as the beads shine will quickly fade. Depending on how often you wear beaded jewellery, the shine will be much weaker after about 2–3 months.
