Shape & Meaning – Why the Sphere?

The sphere is one of the preferred forms for Shungite. Its uniform geometry enables a harmonious, all-around presence in the room. In traditional perception, the spherical shape is regarded as balancing and stabilizing, as it has no corners or edges and distributes energy evenly.

Shungite spheres are often placed in living rooms, sleeping areas or meditation zones – that is, wherever one regularly spends time.

Appearance & Surface – Deliberately Natural

Our Maksovskij Shungite spheres are ground but not polished.
The reason for this lies in the combination of materials: quartz is significantly harder than Shungite. During polishing, the quartz components would protrude unevenly or appear visually distorted. The matte, ground surface therefore preserves the natural balance between Shungite and quartz and makes each sphere a unique individual piece.

Fine lines, light inclusions and natural contrasts create a lively, authentic appearance. The spheres – like all our products – are neither glued nor pressed under heat, which means that their natural structure and mineral composition are fully preserved.

Placement & Orientation in the Room

Shungite spheres develop their presence best where they are located within one's personal living area. Typical placements are shelves, sideboards, desks or windowsills.

Depending on the size of the sphere, the radius of effect is traditionally estimated as follows for orientation:

• Ø 50 mm – approx. 2–3 meters
• Ø 70 mm – approx. 3–4 meters
• Ø 100 mm – approx. 5–6 meters
• Ø 150 mm – approx. 6–7 meters

Several spheres can be combined in larger rooms.

Care & Delivery

Cleaning with pure water recommended

• Do not use chemical cleaning agents
• According to traditional belief, Shungite does not store negative energy; energetic cleansing is therefore not necessarily required
• Optionally, the sphere can also be placed outdoors for a few hours (e.g. in daylight or moonlight)

From a diameter of 50 mm, we deliver each sphere with a matching Shungite disc as a coaster.

Quartz and Quartzite – Geological Special Feature of Maksovskij Shungite

In principle, quartzite is always present in Shungite as an accompanying component. Quartzite is a very hard, metamorphic mineral consisting almost entirely of intergrown quartz grains and gives Shungite its structural stability.

The Maksovskij mine, however, represents a special feature: In addition to the quartzite that is always present, quartz also occurs here. Quartz is an independent mineral made of silicon dioxide (SiO₂), characterized by clearly recognizable crystalline structures.

This combination of classic Shungite, quartzite and visible quartz makes Maksovskij Shungite so unique. While quartzite is firmly integrated into the rock, the quartz becomes visually prominent and creates the characteristic inclusions that make each sphere a unique piece.
