Shungite loses its shine quite quickly, especially when exposed to moisture, as it is a soft mineral and the polish does not last long. A dull appearance is not a sign of lower quality.

Note on staining:

Classic shungite may stain when threaded, especially from the holes in the beads. This is a natural property and a sign of genuine shungite. However, after completion and wear, staining is hardly noticeable.

Natural Inclusions:

Shungite may contain pyrite and quartzite inclusions on its surface, visible as golden or gray dots or lines and occasionally resembling scratches. Such inclusions are an authentic characteristic of this stone.
