Vegvisir – Symbol of Orientation and Guidance
The Vegvisir is a well-known symbol today and is often referred to as a “guidepost” or “wayfinder”. The symbol consists of several lines and symbolic arms extending from a common centre, creating the impression of a map for orientation.
In modern spiritual and Nordic-inspired symbolism, the Vegvisir is often associated with orientation, protection during travel, inner guidance and finding one’s own path. In a figurative sense, it can represent the idea of maintaining one’s course even when the path ahead is not yet clearly visible.
The individual arms of the symbol point in different directions. This creates a strong visual connection to the themes of paths and orientation. For many people, the Vegvisir therefore symbolically represents the ability to find one’s bearings even in unfamiliar situations and to follow one’s personal path.
On this Shungite Plate, the clear geometry of the Vegvisir meets the natural structure of a stone from Karelia. The combination of dark Shungite and the finely incorporated engraving combines a natural material with Nordic symbolism.
The meaning of the symbol remains personal. It can, for example, serve as a reminder to maintain orientation, follow one’s own path and remain open to new developments.
Companion for Travel
The Shungite Plate has been deliberately designed to be compact so that it can also be easily used or stored while travelling. Measuring approx. 70 × 110 × 15 mm, it fits, for example, in a bag, luggage or various storage compartments.
It is particularly practical for use in a car. The plate can, for example, be stored in the centre console, a door compartment or another suitable storage area. This compact format is especially popular as a personal companion in electric cars.
The included fabric pouch makes transport easier and protects the plate from scratches and dirt during storage.
Handcrafted and Natural Variations
The plate is carefully handcrafted from a piece of raw classic Shungite and then polished.
Since this is a naturally formed stone, no two plates are exactly alike. Small variations in size, thickness, shape and especially in the individual pattern of the stone are part of the natural character of the material.
Each plate therefore has its own individual structure and becomes a personal one-of-a-kind piece.
Natural Inclusions
Classic Shungite is naturally characterised by fine veins and inclusions of various minerals. These natural structures can be particularly visible around the engraved areas.
Light, grey or metallic-looking areas may, for example, be caused by mineral inclusions. They are not an indication of a defect or damage, but are part of the natural composition of Shungite.
It is precisely these individual structures that make each piece a unique natural product.
Origin and Quality
To the best of our knowledge, genuine classic Shungite is mined exclusively at the Zazhoginsky Mine in Karelia, Russia. We source the raw stone for our Shungite products exclusively from this mine and in Category 2, the highest quality category for classic Shungite.
The origin and quality of the material are particularly important to us. We regularly visit the mining sites and production facilities in Karelia and carefully inspect the raw stones.
This allows us to document the origin of our Shungite products in a transparent manner and offer you authentic classic Shungite from Karelia.
Certificate
Every piece of raw stone used for our products is carefully checked by us for the essential quality characteristics.
Through our regular visits to Karelia, we can additionally verify the origin of the material. We document the authenticity and origin with a certificate of authenticity.
You will receive this certificate together with your “Vegvisir” Shungite Plate.
Care and Important Information
The plate should only be used dry. The polish is not waterproof and may become dull after prolonged contact with liquids.
Please never use this polished Shungite Plate for energising water through direct contact.
Polished classic Shungite may also leave a slight grey residue on the palms after prolonged use. This can generally be removed easily with water and soap.
For storage, we recommend using the included fabric pouch and keeping the plate in a dry, protected place.
