Many different opinions are present on the Internet.  "Healing stones shall be cleaned," is the opinion of some users.  Others believe that "cleaning shungite stone is completely unnecessary.”  What is next?

By its very nature, shungite does not absorb foreign energies and therefore does not necessarily need to be energetically cleaned.  Nevertheless, it does need care.  It allows you to use this wonderful stone constantly and effectively.

The care of shungite and elite shungite depends on its application. Stones used for water purification require different care than stones used for radiation protection.

Shungite stones for water purification in direct contact with water

In this application, the stones must in any case be cleaned mechanically.

Mechanical cleaning

New stones should be washed thoroughly prior to their first use. If the water is purified with shungite, deposits may form on the stone surface, e.g. lime deposits, depending on the water quality. Larger stones can be brushed off with a plastic brush, for example, and then washed. It is recommended to clean the stones regularly at intervals of about 2-3 months, as well as the container they are in. It applies to both types of shungite. Elite shungite has a naturally smooth surface, which makes it easy to clean.

Please do not use aggressive chemical cleaning agents. These can damage the stone. If there is a lot of lime on the surface, vinegar or citric acid can be used.

Shungite absorbs odours very quickly. To remove them, give the stone enough time outdoors, in the sun if possible.

Please note: although shungite energy cleaning works very well in the sun, it only works if the stones are dry during this process. While you are purifying the water with shungite, it is best to put the vessel in a shady place. If the vessel with shungite is left in the sun for a long time, a green stain will form in the water.

Energystone cleaning is not necessary, but it certainly does no harm. Many users, including myself, do the energy cleaning after the mechanical one.

Shungite stones for radiation protection and energy application

Vigorous or mechanical cleaning is not necessary for radiation protection, harmonisation and other applications without direct contact with the stone surface. Wiping the stone lightly with a dry, soft cloth is enough.

If the stone surface needs to be cleaned, you can easily clean it under running water with a little soap or other mild detergent. Note, however, that polished shungite surfaces lose their lustre when washed.

Energy cleaning

Elite shungite and classical shungite have a special feature compared to other healing stones: they don’t absorb negative information and vibrations. The stone harmonises the negative energy of left rotation into the positive energy of right rotation. In doing so, it does not become negatively charged itself. Like a catalyst, shungite does not need to be cleaned or discharged. Testing with a one-handed frame or pendulum shows clear harmonisation of the radiations even with stones that have been in use for a long time. Thanks to this special property, shungite is often used to clean healing stones and other objects, such as jewellery.

However, if you feel that your stone needs a little break and support, indulge the shungite by bathing it in sunlight, moonlight or salt crystals.

Energy cleaning with salt

Cleaning with salt is a powerful, effective way of energy cleaning of the healing stone. The stone is not placed directly in the salt, but it is best to fill a bowl with salt and the shungite stone in a smaller bowl or glass. It is then placed over the salt.

Cleaning in the sun

Elite shungite and classical shungite can be charged in the sun.  The best time is at sunrise or sunset.  The sun shouldn’t be too intense. The more the sun shines, the less time cleaning should take.

Cleaning by moonlight

If shungite stone is to be charged by moonlight, mind the moon phases. An increscent moon has a stronger effect and a decrescent moon provides a softer effect.

There are several other possibilities for energy cleaning, e.g. with smoke, sound or amethyst shower. Whichever method you choose, cleaning for more than 8 hours is not recommended.  Depending on how intensively shungite is used, 2-3 hours of cleaning at intervals of 2-3 months is sufficient.
