Discoloration

Items made of classic shungite can discolor, more so on unpolished areas than on polished ones. For example, the holes in jewelry beads are not polished, which is why the jewelry may initially transfer some discoloration. This is unavoidable, as it is a completely natural characteristic of shungite. It usually appears as a gray discoloration that can be easily removed with soap and water.

Inclusions

Classic shungite is a mineral that naturally contains inclusions of other elements, which are irregularly distributed. Therefore, pyrite and quartzite inclusions may be visible in some places, resembling scratches or cracks. These indicate that it is genuine shungite and are in no way a sign of poor quality.

Polishation

The polish does not adhere to the surface of the stone for very long, as shungite is a relatively soft mineral. This is perfectly normal and not a defect. We deliberately avoid heavy sealing or polishing during the production of our products. We want to offer our customers stones in their most natural state.
