How shall I cleanse shungite properly?

These questions are of interest to many shungite owners.

Shungite by its nature has a special property not to absorb foreign energies and therefore does not necessarily need energetic cleansing. However, it needs your care. This wonderful stone can be used consistently and effectively if you follow simple rules.

Care for shungite and elite shungite depends on the type of their application. Water purification stones require different care than those used for protection from harmful emissions.

Shungite stones for water purification in direct contact with water

When applied for water purification, the stones must in any case be cleaned mechanically.

Mechanical cleaning

Rinse new stones thoroughly before using them for the first time. When treating water with shungite, deposits such as limescale can form on the surface of the stone depending on the quality of the water. Larger stones can be cleaned for example with a plastic brush and then rinsed. It is recommended to regularly clean the stones at intervals of about 2-3 months; the same rule refers to the container in which the stones are placed. This applies to both types of shungite. Elite shungite has a natural smooth surface, which makes cleaning easy.

Never use aggressive chemical cleaning agents. They can damage the stone. If a lot of lime has adhered to the surface, then you can use vinegar or citric acid.

Shungite absorbs odors very quickly. To remove them, give the stone enough time to stay outdoors, possibly in the sun.

Please note: energetic cleansing of shungite works very well in the sun, but only if the stones are dry. While you are purifying water with shungite, it is best to place the container in a shady place. If a container with water with shungite stands in the sun for a longer time, this may lead to a green algal bloom.

The energetic cleansing of the stones is optional, but it won't hurt anyway. Many shungite users, which I belong to as well, carry out energy cleansing after the mechanical one.

Shungite stones for protection from emissions and use for energy intensification.

No energy cleansing or mechanical cleaning is required when the stones are used for protection from harmful emissions, harmonization and other applications without direct contact with the stone surface. It is enough to lightly wipe the stone with a dry soft cloth.

If the surface of the stone is in contact with your skin, you can easily clean those surfaces with running water and a little soap or other mild cleaning agents. Note, however, that polished shungite surfaces lose their luster after washing.

Energetic cleansing

Elite shungite and classical shungite have a special feature in comparison with other healing stones: they do not absorb negative information and vibrations. The stone harmonizes the negative energy of left-handed rotation into positive energy of right-handed rotation. At the same time, it does not become negatively charged itself. Like the catalyst, shungite does not need cleansing or relieving. Checking with a divining rod or a pendulum shows a clear harmonization of the emissions, even with stones that have been in use for a long time. Due to this special property, shungite is often used for cleaning healing stones and other items, such as jewelry.

However, if you feel that your stone needs a little break and support, bathe shungite in the sun, moonlight or salt crystals.

Energetic cleansing with salt

Salt cleansing is a powerful and effective way to energetically cleanse a healing stone. To do this, do not put the stone directly into the salt. It is best to fill a bowl with salt and place the shungite stone in a smaller bowl or jar. Then it is placed on salt.

Cleansing in the sun

Elite shungite and classical shungite can be charged in the sun. The period of sunrise or sunset is best suited for this purpose. It is important that the sun is not too strong. The more the sun shines, the shorter the cleansing should be.

Cleansing in the moonlight

If the shungite stone will be charged in the moonlight, pay attention to the phases of the moon. The waxing moon has a stronger effect, and the waning moon effect is softer.

There are other possibilities for energetic cleansing, for example with smoke, sound or amethyst. Whichever method you choose, cleansing that lasts more than 8 hours is not recommended. Depending on how intensively shungite is used, 2-3 hours of cleansing with an interval of 2-3 months is quite enough.
