Shungite is a special stone, which by its unique composition is found only in one place in the world, namely Karelia in Russia. Although the quarry is located far to the north, we have been visiting it regularly since the nineties to guarantee our customers the high quality and origin of the mineral.

In today's challenging times we face many problems in getting the stones to us in Germany. Starting with communication, because email exchanges are no longer possible. So we have to rely on messenger services instead, which are not always practical for this purpose. It is close to impossible to transfer money to Russia. Not only has transport become very expensive and time-consuming, but until the last moment we are not sure as to whether our goods will make it through the border and customs clearance or whether they might be sent back to the sender. That’s why we were very happy to receive the shipment from Karelia in November 2022.

Although there are some traders on the market offering stone at lower prices and with lighter working, we trust our long-term partners, who supply us with shungite directly from the quarry. Thus, we are absolutely sure that this is high-quality shungite from the Zazhoginsky mine.

Unfortunately, we are currently unable to travel to the quarry ourselves. Thanks to our long-standing good relationship with a local supplier and state-of-the-art technology, we are nevertheless present on-site for the processes involved. We are directly involved in making important decisions and selecting the stones. Live streaming via smartphone helps a lot here. For example, when a staff member examines and selects stones, we can watch this. The procedure is much more effective than just words.

Like our suppliers in Karelia, we only want peace and hope for better times.  We have very close private and business ties with both Russia and Ukraine.  Despite the enormous strain, we hope to get back on the ground as soon as possible. While it is impossible, we will do our best to guarantee the provenance and high quality of our stones to our customers.  When you buy elite or classical shungite from us, you can be sure that these are genuine stones from Karelia.
