Authenticity and quality are especially important for the mineral used as a protection and healing stone.

There are many fake minerals of all kinds on the market.  Shungite is also often counterfeited yo make more profit with no effort.

Recently, we have seen shungite products at fairs that have nothing to do with authentic shungite mineral. These pieces were probably made from black powder and synthetic resin.  However, they are very easy to distinguish from authentic shungite even without special knowledge, as they are clearly lighter than authentic shungite. 

In the photo you can see a strand of beads; the beads are assumed to be made from shungite mineral.  However, the strand weight was no more than two-thirds that of a real strand of shungite beads.  Moreover, the beads were uniformly black and perfectly flawless, which is impossible for natural shungite rock. These beads are not comparable to authentic shungite.

If you want to distinguish a fake from authentic shungite, take it in your hand.  Authentic shungite is about twice as heavy as water, fakes are usually much lighter.

Classical shungite and elite shungite also differ in weight. 

Elite shungite has a much higher carbon content and is therefore somewhat lighter. Elite schungite, however, is difficult to work or shape into a pyramid or sphere, so the stones are usually offered in their natural condition.  The volume of an irregularly shaped natural stone is quite difficult to calculate, besides the mineral density is not always constant.  However, we may assume that the density is about 1.7-1.9.

Classical (normal) shungite is often used to make cubes, pyramids or spheres.  In this case it is relatively easy to calculate the object volume. The mineral density is about 1.9-2.2.  For example, a shungite cube with an edge length of 10 cm weighs about 2 kg.  In our shop, the weight is entered as 2.1 because the packaging is added to the weight. The weight information in our product descriptions refers to the product with packaging, it is important for calculating shipping costs.

When we receive shungite products from Karelia at our facilities in Würzburg, we check the weight and other quality characteristics. Using our products, you can be sure that they are not pressed powder or anything like that.  In our shop we only offer shungite products with a natural, undisturbed structure.  It is very important when using shungite because only natural stone has properties that can support us and offer protection against negative energy.
