Discoloration

Items made of classic shungite can discolor, more so in unpolished areas than in polished ones. For example, the holes in jewelry beads are not polished, so the jewelry will initially discolor slightly. This cannot be avoided, as it is a completely natural property of shungite. Most of the time, these discolorations are gray and can be easily removed with soap and water.

Additional Elements

Classic shungite is a mineral that naturally contains irregularly distributed additional elements. Therefore, pyrite and quartzite inclusions can be seen in some places, resembling scratches or cracks. These indicate that the stone is genuine shungite and are by no means a sign of poor quality.

Polish

The polish does not last very long on the surface of the stone, as shungite is a relatively soft mineral. This is completely normal and not a quality defect. We deliberately avoid heavy sealing or polishing during the manufacturing of our products. We want to offer our customers the stones as natural as possible.
